At heart, Win Upsher is an artist in the fullest sense of the word. Aside from being a photographer, he is a dedicated professional musician; he also writes, draws, paints, sculpts, designs jewelry, along with a variety of multimedia pursuits. He hears music in color, texture, and fragrance. He tastes and feels hues, contours, and vibrations. Having had a lifelong romance with sound and light waves, he is continuously propelled to explore the gifts and diverse canvas of life.  

Win’s love of photography grew out of a love of theatre, dance and movement arts. He relishes capturing moments in time, recording emotions and thoughts, and celebrating the spontaneous and fluid intersection of the human and natural worlds in everyday life. He enjoys sharing the personal journeys of the individuals he works with, and what grows out of the intimate vitality spent creating and imagining that world.

 

In his own words: “We are all new creations with every breath, and I have never lost my joy for existing within each one of them. Truth and our perceived reality are never mutually exclusive. Experience tells me each of us has our own reality that may be at variance from that of other people. The energetics of each version, whether an illustration of truth, will be identical, even if perceived differently. What I explore is how I can honestly capture that which is before me. That is part of my artistic journey: to understand how close I can get to the truth, for others, as well as for myself.”
